About My Photo I Turned into Canvas Art

The original 4"x6" photo was a casually made snapshot, taken at a low resolution (1280x960), through the 25th floor window glass of an apartment on West 50th St. in New York City, without a tripod, using a digital camera. The focus is very soft, and the brightest lights in the distant windows are flaring in their intensity. The red neon building signs are unreadable due to focus and flare. None of that was planned but all of that was desirable for the final 32"x48" canvas print because photo realism was not the goal. Something more painterly and impressionistic was the goal. Similar to the way you see something out of a window with your peripheral vision when you are actually looking at something else inside a room. Present, but not demanding attention. Recognizable, but not allowing a very detailed review.

My Experience with Canvas On Demand

I want to thank you and your production team for a job well done all the way around. From initial communication and clarification phone calls, to final delivery, everything was done with care.

Jon and I talked on the phone and exchanged emails many times, as he worked to ensure I understood it was impossible for my original to turn out as a sharp, clear, photographic canvas like most people want and expect. I reassured Jon it was never my intent to be photo realistic and that the substandard original photo qualities were in fact desirable in this case. He never made assumptions and always called or wrote to clarify or to caution me. Excellent customer service.

Also to your company's credit, I supplied three prints of the same shot with my order, showing examples of undesirable color shifting towards black, as well as desirable color shifting towards brown. The final canvas has the nice warm brown tones I hoped would come through. Very nice production work.

The canvas and outer box arrived in perfect condition as well, so kudos to packaging and delivery teams too.

This was a great example of a first class operation. I'll recommend CanvasOnDemand every chance I get, and I plan to work with you again in the future for my next project.
